Small Group Bible Studies

October-November 2021

Sign up is required by September 26th for these four studies. To make the best use of small group dynamics, we would like groups in the range of 5-12 people. The schedule will be determined by the group when it’s formed after the deadline. Each study will have 4 sessions.

“Living with Too Little Time” Christian Time Management

LOCATION: TBD     GROUP LEADER: John Walther

DESCRIPTION: There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven. (Ecclesiastes 3:1) Time is a gift from God, yet managing the gift of time can be quite challenging. This Bible study will help Christians evaluate how they use their time, develop realistic expectations of themselves, and set priorities according to God’s will and purpose. Strategies for creating and maintaining a healthy time balance for God, family, work, and leisure will be emphasized.

Session 1: It’s About Time

Session 2: Setting Priorities

Session 3: Keeping a Healthy Balance

Session 4: Reducing Stress

Fireproof Your Marriage (Part One)

LOCATION: TBD by the group leader

GROUP LEADER: Tom Banaszak

DESCRIPTION: This marriage enrichment study is based on the 2008 movie FIREPROOF. FIREPROOF is an action-packed love story about a firefighter (played by Kirk Cameron), his wife and a marriage worth rescuing. Participants will view clips of the movie and explore God’s design for relationships and marriage using a Scripture-based study guide.

Session 1: watch entire movie (2 hours)

Session 2: He Said/She Said

Session 3: He First Loved Us

Session 4: Love for a Lifetime

Part two of this study will be offered in the future.

Christian Parenting: Bringing Jesus into our Family Life

LOCATION: TBD by the group leader

GROUP LEADER: Sarah Reik

DESCRIPTION: Parenting is one thing, but what does it mean to be Christian parents? The goal of this Bible study is to help us as Christian parents make our homes the strongest fortresses of Jesus Christ that they can be for the spiritual welfare of the entire family. Participants will evaluate the spiritual climate of their homes, and explore God’s design to have Christian parents raise Christian children. Intended for parents with children ages 0-12.

Session 1: Dad and Mom – God’s Key People

Session 2: Wanted: Spiritual Parents

Session 3: Overcoming Obstacles

Session 4: Making the Most of Opportunities

Failing Forward in Our Prayer Life

LOCATION: TBD by the group leader

GROUP LEADER: Jon Schoeneck

DESCRIPTION: How’s your prayer life these days? Is it a model for others? About average? Or, does it really suck? It’s o.k., you can be honest. There are plenty of Christians who look in the mirror and don’t see anything that looks like a “prayer warrior.” Why is that? What’s getting in the way of our having a healthy prayer life? In this Bible study we’ll hear about some awesome examples of prayer warriors in the Bible. We’ll learn a lot from them as well as from each other.

Session 1: Prayer–It’s More About Being Than Doing

Session 2: Prayer–It’s More About Giving Than Getting

Session 3: Prayer–It’s More About Will Than Want

Session 4: Prayer–It’s More About Heaven Than Earth
