Mike serves Morning Star Lutheran School as the 7 th and 8 th Grade teacher. He teaches Departmentalized History in grades 3-8.
Mike graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN in 1977. While in CA he did post graduate work at Cal State, San Bernardino. He has been in the teaching ministry continually since then, serving schools in Pomona, CA; Milwaukee, WI; and in Jackson at Morning Star. Mike was a WELS principal for 17 years and was called to start Morning Star Lutheran School in 1995. He has been with Morning Star since its beginning.
Mike has served his school and the synod by being a school visitor, a school councilor, Team Ministry Program contact man, a student teaching supervisor for the education program at MLC, an athletic director, and Accelerated Reader Program coordinator.
One of the joys of Mike’s 30+ years of teaching has been to be able to look back over the years and see former students who have remained faithful to their Lord and Savior and are using their gifts and talents to the best of their God-given abilities.
The basis of Mike’s ministry is best echoed by the words of Christian Scheidt:
“By Grace I’m saved, Grace free and boundless; my soul believe and doubt it not. Why waver at this word of promise? Has Scripture ever falsehood taught? So then this word must true remain: By Grace you, too, shall Heaven obtain!” (Christian Worship, hymn 384 stz.1)
